Losing Sight of the Shore
After flying into Memphis on Saturday, Grant and I headed down to Oxford, Mississippi, a quaint town that’s home to the Ole Miss Rebels.
Our road trip was married with fields of green and pure natural beauty.
Upon arrival, we decided to check into a room at the Inn at Ole Miss per my mom’s friends recommendation, and it wasn’t long until we made our way downtown for adventures and edibles.
We stopped in Boure for drinks and apps. Roasted jalapeno cream cheese topped with grilled peach and bacon chutney served with pita chips. I’m sure this recipe would be delicious and a little sin-less to try at home using Greek yogurt instead of sour cream!
We headed back to the hotel, but not without first acting a little rebellious.
Delectables and detention. 😉
This town is a lot like Charlottesville- artsy, fun and heavily influenced by the university. A couple weeks ago at the Whiskey Jar in Charlottesville, I saw a quote by Faulkner, “Civilization begins with distillation.”
I love small artsy towns with big influencers.
The next day, it was a trek through the woods to Faulkner’s house we go.
“Wonder. Go on and wonder.” -Falkner
A large dose of writing inspiration and we were off to Grant’s family ranch in Grenada, Mississippi for our next adventure.
Shooting, feeding, walking, mudding, and racing through the country fields. Some kind of fun.
She needs wide open spaces
Room to make her big mistakes
She needs new faces
She knows the high stakes
We’re staying at the Peabody Hotel tonight and then I’m back to Charlottesville tomorrow.
Enjoy the rest of your Marvelous Monday!
