Adventuring Through the Philippines
Yo, guess what?
I got to visit the Philippines! I flew 12 hours from San Francisco to Manila. When I landed, my driver took me to my hotel in Makati and my friend Cesar and I hit the streets for a run to see the sights. We hit the ground running, literally,
and didn’t really stop well until I got sick near the end of the trip, but back to the fun times. We explored the city of Manila, visited the Google office in BGC, cruised the endless beautifully decked out malls, dined in authentic style in Marikina where they make specialty shoes just an hour north of Manila, and even got to attend a wedding in Tagaytay.
Of course, we had to fit in some gym time too because no pain no gain.
Then we were off to the islands.
We stayed in Coron in the islands of Palawan.
The food was delicious and the people were incredibly kind.
I learned some Tagalog and some things about life.
Like if you want something badly enough, take the first step and believe it.
You have to believe in order to make the idea happen in a matter of time.
Put yourself in situations where you’re uncomfortable. Where newness exists.
What’s that quote about discomfort being the starting point for achieving new goals?
Play the tape foward and know each step you take is in the right direction of your goal. Even when you make mistakes, it’s part of the journey which so many suggest is the fun of the mission (only visible once the goal is complete of course). 🙂
Mistakes are the glue to solidify growth.
To accomplish a goal, you have to face the difficult portions to fully achieve said goal.
Isn’t it funny how traveling can make you see everyday ideas so clearly through a new lens?
By the way, if you ever find yourself deathly sick while traveling, here’s a survival guide:
Salamat po (thank you)!
