NY Fashion Week
Hello from the Melting Pot!
“The more you look, the more you see” because “for every fact, there is an infinity of hypothesis.”
Before arriving in the city yesterday, I went in the studio for a photo shoot with one of the hottest celeb photographers, Virgil Odell.
Photos of my eccentric yoga moves and more will hit the blog next week.

I’m showcasing this selfie because look at that hair and makeup sans any photo edits. That is art.
Yesterday, I compiled my sass in my small carry-on suitcase to take off from the runway to watch the Fashion Week runway.
After being welcomed with so much warmth and kindness at my friend Melanie’s place, I started getting ready for my very first fashion show in New York.

I had the savvy plan of packing my heels in my purse to catch the subway into the meatpacking district for comfort and the extra walking required as a noob in the city. As I was about to head out the door, I decided, to fetch an Uber, because sometimes a girl just needs to feel extra glam. (Dad, stop shaking your head.)
Since I had allotted extra time for subway transportation and getting lost, I was super punctual in my arrival. After a swift 10 minute ride with my joyful Nigerian driver, I arrived 20 minutes unfashionably early.
As I walked up, I saw some people hanging around and just as I was about to head off to roam the city, I struck up a conversation with these guys behind Beauty and Pinup products.
We hung out behind the scenes with the models, pizza, drinks and the whole glamor enchilada.
The talented hair crew hooked it up for me.
Hair styles amid male models. 🙂
Look at that do though. A fashion do, if I do say so myself.
The show itself was a hit, but the decadent, candy covered cupcakes stole the show, naturally.
I forgot to ask what they were wearing.
Stunning sugary sweets.
My appetite for glam was satisfied. Afterwards, Melanie and I hit up Thirsty Buddha in East Village where we gabbed, laughed, danced, met new friends, and sipped drinks with the bartender. It was a lovely affair.
Artsy ways and lasting convos for days. You just never know where you might go with a mind set to open.
“If you find yourself easily provoked,
then just change the channel.”
Exploring the streets, I found some unique fresh fruits.
The two little red pieces are called lychee, a tropical fruit found in China.
You peal the skin off and a delicate, whitish pulp with a florally sweet flavor emerges. They might look familiar because a lot of frozen yogurt shops offer lychee as a topping.
Watch out for the nut in the middle though. With anything new, isn’t that always the warning?
In newness, you might just find yourself out in Brooklyn after taking the wrong subway train. It’s okay because it’s so easy to meet people while embracing the little novelties if you so chose. Pick your style and own it, even in being lost.
It’s kind of nice getting lost. What better way to be completely present and unattached to preconceived fear?
In the end, we all get there. No worries, bro.
“Arrows of neon and flashing marquees out on Main Street.
Chicago, New York, Detroit and it’s all on the same street.
Your typical city involved in a typical daydream
Hang it up and see what tomorrow brings.“
Defying the notion of are we there yet since June 2014.
I’m off to explore and quite possibly get lost in this exciting city. More fashion and NY flare to come!
What’s on your agenda for this weekend?
