Feel with Friends
“When you want to attract something into your life, make sure your actions don’t contradict your desires.. Think about what you have asked for, and make sure that your actions are mirroring what you expect to receive, and that they’re not contradicting what you‘ve asked for. Act as if you are receiving it. Do exactly what you would do if you were receiving it today, and take actions in your life to reflect that powerful expectation. Make room to receive your desires, and as you do, you are sending out that powerful signal of expectation.
-Rhonda Byrne
From satisfying dinners to thought provoking walks, I’ve spent the last week getting to know some fabulous minds, new and old in familiarity to my own in sweet Virginia.
There was nacho, drinks and laughter with the lovely Whitney of Worthy Style.
Exploring the park lands and a winery amid life talks with Victoria.
Followed by a girl’s night out in the heart of Richmond.
And then a weekend of joy in my favorite college town, Charlottesville.
Dress: Lilly; Jewelry: Flash Tats!
Flashy moods ensue.
A Basil visit was of course a must.
Each encounter offers valuable lessons. I see my friends as unfinished chapter books. What better way to learn than from others? Thank you to all my friends and family- each and everyone of you make my world.
I believe all people are inherently good. Blame it on my naieve, 20-something mindset, but I truly think you can find a sweetness in every soul. If nothing else, a person can provide you with a distraction from your own madness.
Sometimes, we feel these things and it doesn’t necessarily mean we need to be medicated. Now, I’m not discounting depression, bipolar or the many illnesses that need medication in order to live a normal life. I believe mental health is far too under-discussed, but before you seek help from the outside, first look within. I’m simply saying that if the issue isn’t forever interfering, it’s healthy. I’m sad. I don’t need a quick fix.
The antibacterial of neurosis.
If we don’t feel, how do we expect to grow?
Find solace in sadness through harmony. Literally. I love the way a song can bring you back to a detailed memory. Just like you’re present emotions engaging like new. But even better because it’s not new, rather it’s a mere reflection of the self’s familiar experience.
Choose your reality.
Yes, it might be delusional, but if you believe something enough, others will too. Belief stems from energy. Energy is palpable. It’s the law of attraction that says “like attracts like.” Focusing on positive or negative thoughts can bring about positive or negative results.
To be my own devil’s advocate, there is no scientific basis to the law of attraction. Some physicists deny the idea that thoughts affect anything outside the mind.
Okay, fine. But if it works for you, it’s your truth and it is thereupon your reality if you so choose it. It’s like religion or spirituality. If it works, then believe it. It’s not so much the medium as it is the outcome of said belief.
“Things that feel super personal actually feel really universal. It’s sort of the more you really identify something specific within yourself, the more people connect to it because ultimately we are all connected in some way.”
-Lena Dunham
Do you think we need more focus and communication on mental health as a society?
