Enjoying it for the Holidays
Christmas has come and gone and as I feel the post-holiday blues, I try to remember to be grateful for the wonderful, relaxing visit I had with my family and friends. Spending time with loved ones is really what it’s all about after all. It’s an amazing feeling to be home for the holidays surrounded by love and joy. Now that I have a job and no longer have a prolonged winter break, I really appreciate the time I get to spend with my family and even though it’s for a much shorter period, it makes me forget the little things and enjoy what’s right in front of me. So, I did just that and enjoyed the food! đ
We had Christmas Eve dinner at my parent’s house and I can honestly say that even though I ate a little too much delicious food, I enjoyed every bite and refused to think twice about it. Well, at least I tried not too anyway. I blame the brie cheese wheel appetizer!
After dinner, it was my favorite time- dessert time!
We also had all of my baked goods for dessert too. It was a glorious feast, to say the least!
On Christmas day, we woke up, enjoyed my Mom’s French toast for breakfast, and then opened presents. Around noon, we decided to go for a run together. Yeah, we’re that family that runs on Christmas. Â But don’t worry, we chilled in the family room for the rest of the day.
It was great to finally get a workout in after several days of inactivity since I was little “sick”. There’s something about working out that makes it much easier to sit back and relax afterward. I love putting on my comfy clothes and laying on the couch. Instead of looking forward to desserts, I’m trying to tell my mind to look forward to getting comfortable after my work is done. My healthy eating habits were successful for the most part, with the exception of Christmas Eve, but hey, I’ve got to indulge every once in a while, especially if it’s a holiday. đ
I was glad that I took so many days to rest to my body since I wasn’t feeling too great. After our run I was already starting to feel a better and my appetite agreed. For lunch, we had a spread of veggies, dips, and crackers for lunch. It was tasty! I had scallops, green beans, and sweet potato fries for dinner.
I had some left over goodies for dessert and probably indulged a little too much but I was alright with it, especially since I won’t have such great food in my own apartment.
This week, I hope to get back on track with my running. Only a few days until it’s time to ring in the New Year! Woo! Hope everyone had a fabulous holiday.
