I’ve got a treat for you….
“I’ll just have a water please.”
Those were the words my friend, Hillary and I uttered last night while out with our friends.
Who knew that simple phrase would sound undesirable to others, prompting questions.
“Wait, you’re not drinking?” “Aren’t you going to get a drink?”
The nights I choose not to drink are often the most fun. After getting over the initial awkwardness of asking for a water, everyone else usually moves on and I find myself more confident as a result.
Now, don’t get me wrong, I love my fair share of wine and mixed drinks (beer, not so much), but occasionally, skipping the drinks is a necessity. I think it’s important to vary your interests so not to hone in on one thing, like going out at night. Moderation, baby.
Whether you’re trying to drink less. workout more, or just striving to stay positive, check out this article on conquering a new skill. As a marketing professional, I was surprised by Herbert Lui’s statement, “quantity should be a higher priority than quality.” Wait, what?
“Try fast, fail fast, learn fast.”
Go tackle that long-lingering goal today. The sooner you start, the sooner it will become a reality!
Question of the day: Do you have nights where you just order a water? What’s one of your long-lingering goals you’d like to accomplish?
Do a dance, listen to your favorite song, stretch, walk around the house. These are all things I’ve been doing to get awake in the morning. Of course, when I say dance, I mean more of a few twists (and shouts!) to get a little excitement coursing around. This may be over-kill but in the book I’m reading, the author says there are many theories that say you can change your feelings by changing your actions. My action is a morning dance; ergo, I feel ready to workout. (I wasn’t super energetic this morning but hey, any little bit helps!)
I headed to the gym this morning to do a quicker 35 minute workout due to a limited time. You’d think that by waking up earlier, I’d be able to have more time but no. I seem to always take advantage of every alloted minute available. Hmph. Actually, I ended up sleeping in a good 30 minutes this morning because I was sleepy. Of course, when I eventually got out of bed, I felt more tired than I would have had I gotten up right when my alarm clock went off. It’s a morning work in progress, that’s for sure.
I’ve been the first one to the gym for a while now. It’s a bit eerie having to turn the lights on and everything. Let’s just say I’m a bit more paranoid then your average Joe. One big perk of having access to this gym is that I’ve been able to plug my iPhone into the speakers and jam out while exercising. That definitely gets me rockin’.
Check out my workout log to see my gym routine for this morning. After the gym, I went to the refrigerator to have my breakfast (I made a pumpkin smoothie the night before) but I was sad to find my smoothie didn’t maintain it’s shape. It was of course all liquid and I had to stir it to mix the milk and pumpkin together. I ended up drinking some of it anyway but note to self, if you want to prepare a breakfast smoothie for the morning, maybe try putting it in the freezer and letting it thaw for an hour or two in the morning. I will play around with this idea and report back.
My goal for the day is to drink 3 of these puppies:
Hope everyone is off to a fabulous
